Ameren UE Presents $1,000 Check to Annie Malone

St. Louis, MO – On Monday, December 15, 2008, Annie Malone Children and Family Service Center received $1,000 from Ameren UE, the largest electric utility company in Missouri and the second largest in Illinois, providing energy services to 2.4 million and one million natural gas customers.

Annie Malone is one of several non-for profit organizations that Ameren UE has contributed to from St. Louis City to St. Charles County. “We like to contribute to those in our community,” said Gene Unverfehrt, Ameren’s Archview Division Manager. “You can’t go wrong when you help children and Annie Malone does a great job,” stated Patrick Smith, Ameren’s Archview Division Superintendent. Donations and contributions from businesses, organizations, and private individuals continue to help Annie Malone provide care for abused, neglected and abandoned children.

Annie Malone Children & Family Service Center serves more than 800 children and families annually, through its Residential Treatment Program, Therapeutic School (Emerson Academy), Transitional Living Program, Early Learning and Respite Care Center, Annie M. Café at City Hall, and the new Annie M’s Seventh Story Café in the Carnahan building. Each year Annie Malone celebrates its historic legacy with a weekend of events. It is host to one of the largest and oldest African-American parade celebrations in the nation, the Annie Malone May Day Parade.
